Information on ElektroG/ Disposal of old devices
The Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) contains a wide range of requirements regarding the handling of electrical and electronic equipment. The most important points are summarized below.
1. Separate collection of waste equipment
Electrical and electronic equipment that has become waste is referred to as waste equipment. Owners of waste equipment are required to dispose of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. In particular, waste equipment must not be disposed of with household waste, but must be handed over to designated collection and return systems.
2. Batteries and rechargeable batteries
Owners of waste equipment are generally required to remove used batteries and rechargeable batteries that are not enclosed within the waste equipment before handing it over to a collection point.
3. Options for returning waste equipment
Owners of waste equipment from private households may dispose of it at collection points operated by public waste management authorities or at return points set up by manufacturers or distributors in accordance with the ElektroG. An online directory of collection and return points can be found here.
If you order an electrical appliance in our online shop that is delivered by freight carrier, you can conveniently request the collection of an old appliance of the same type during the ordering process. The old appliance will be collected at the time of delivery of your new device.
If the electrical appliance you ordered is delivered by parcel service, please contact us after completing your order by email at info@profi-electro.de if you wish to return an old appliance of the same type. We will then provide you with a free return label, which you can use to send your old appliance back to us easily.
4. Data protection notice
Waste equipment often contains sensitive personal data. This applies in particular to information and telecommunications devices such as computers and smartphones. Please note in your own interest that each end user is responsible for deleting any data stored on waste equipment prior to disposal.
5. Meaning of the “crossed-out wheeled bin” symbol
The symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin, which is regularly displayed on electrical and electronic equipment, indicates that the respective device must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life.
6. Further information
We are a member of the “take-e-back” return system. Further information can be found at www.take-e-back.de.
7. Notice on waste prevention
According to the provisions of Directive 2008/98/EC on waste and its implementation in the legislation of the Member States of the European Union, measures for waste prevention generally take precedence over waste management measures. In the case of electrical and electronic equipment, waste prevention measures include, in particular, extending the service life of devices by repairing defective equipment and selling functional used devices instead of disposing of them.
